Projects Conversion from ScriptCase V4 to ScriptCase V5

If you want to import your projects developed with ScriptCase V4 to use with the ScriptCase V5, follow the steps in this document, after installing the ScriptCase version 5 and to try the new features.

IMPORTANT:

The conversion process from version 4 to version 5 does not change any version 4 information, ie there is no risk to the projects providede that you follow the steps outlined in this document properly.

After you install ScriptCase Version 5 follow the steps to convert the project.

Step 1: If the ScriptCase V4 is installed on another server, you must copy the folder ScriptCase V4 to the server where it was installed version 5. Preferably to the same directory where it was installed version 5.

In this case, as both folders have the same name "scriptcase",

1 copy your scriptcase4 directory to a temporary folder.

2 rename the copy to scriptcase4.

3 move this folder to the same directory where you installed the version 5.

See the image below a folder structure showing the result of these operations.

Step 2: Access the ScriptCase version 5 and start the converter using the Tools menu, see the figure below.

Step 3: Enter the scriptcase4 directory path (copied in step 1).

Step 4: Conversion of database ScriptCase V4 to V5

ScriptCase uses a database to store all of projects definitions (you may need to inform the server where the database version 4 is).

If you installed ScriptCase V5 on the same server where you installed ScriptCase V4 use the option SAME SERVER.

Figure 04: Using database on the same server.

If the version 4 is installed in another server and   ScriptCase V4 database has not been copied in step 1 use the option Other Server

Figure 05: Using database on another server.

Only use this option if:

Your version 4 has been installed manually (without the windows installer) and the DBMS chosen at installation (setting up the ScriptCaseV4 tables) time wasn’t SQLITE

Step 5: Dealing with Duplicates (repetition).

If you want to convert a version 4 project with the same name of a version 5 project (there is already a v5 project with that name) it is possible to handle duplicated projects or project with the same name during the conversion by choosing a specific option for each project.   You can select to overwrite the project and convert from V4 to V5 (and the project on version 5 will be lost).

A screen with the conversion status messages is displayed after selecting what to do for each project.

The ScriptCase V5 login screen is displayed after clicking the log out button. Access your converted projects to navigate to your applications and generate the source code.
